It was originally a maroon village with strong ties to the maroons in the hills of Portland. It is an access point utilized by tourists to Bowden Pen through Cunha-Cunha Pass. The overall climatic pattern is predominantly dry and natural resources include nature trail, forested areas, rivers, arable land and an abundance of various types of plants and animals some indigenous to Jamaica.
