Long Mountain Hill Trail is a one (1) hour walk from the community, along the way there are many plants and animals. At the top of the hill, which is a plateau, there is a 360o view of the Rio Grande from the coast to the mountains. It is also a camping site. The visitors will be orientated at the Cultural Centre, where they will be refreshed.
Nanny Falls is the flagship attraction for the community of Moore Town. It is about thirty (30) minutes’ walk from the Cultural Centre a trek over easy terrain to the waterfall on a tributary of the Rio Grande River. Along the way hikers can sample fruits, people will stop to look at the plants and animals along the way to the falls. The falls is a place where the elders would go to be healed. One can swim, get massage under the falls. The orientation process will be at the Cultural Centre.
Visitors will experience maroon life first hand by taking a community village tour, viewing traditional rural Jamaican houses, a primary school, playing field, post office and several churches. Along the way they will visit “Bump Grave”, the site where at the time of her elevation to heroine status in 1975, the government erected a memorial for Nanny over the grave.
Moore Town Coney Watch Trail is a night time attraction. The walk to the attraction is 11/2 hours. Fifty (50) people can be on the site at any given time. It’s a six (6) hours tour. One of the other entertainments on the tour is “bon fire”. Orientation will be done at the Cultural Centre.
